The Venado Caverns are a real hidden gem for adventure lovers with subterranean trails to explore. Fresh water flows through the caves leaving you wet and muddy at the end of your tour.
The Venado Caves, are located in the village of Venado about 45 minutes from La Fortuna. Touring the caves is an activity that you will want to add to your list of must-see attractions when you vacation in La Fortuna or near Arenal Volcano.
The Venado Caves contain rock formations that are more than 6 million years old! These range from water cascades to stalactites and stalagmites. Additionally there is exotic fauna like fish, insects, spiders, and four different species of bats!
The stalactites and stalagmites growing out of the ground and hanging from the ceiling are part of the attraction of this beautiful natural creation. They make a stunning home for all the families of bats, spiders, and crabs that add excitement to your tour.
